Numerical Prediction of the Performance of Chamfered and Sharp Cutting Tools during Orthogonal Cutting of AISI 1045 Steel

This paper presents a numerical investigation of the effects chamfered and sharp cemented carbide tools using finite element method-based DEFORM-2D software cutting parameters on different machining characteristics during orthogonal AISI 1045 steel. The objective is to study interactions between chamfer width, angle, angle speed feed rate temperature, effective stress wear depth. These were investigated statistically analysis variance (ANOVA) test. obtained results showed that for tool, high values depth widths 0.35 mm 0.45 mm. In terms combined influences, temperature stress, strong interaction width was obtained. For tool design, in are mostly observed speeds rates. ANOVA both tools, rate, their most significant influence stress.
